Every smart listing is scored against an estimated fair value derived from 12 deterministic factors: anchor price (base MSRP or precomputed model MSRP), retention curve calibrated per smart model and age, mileage adjustment against expected miles, condition (new / CPO / used), accident count, owner count, usage type, title brand, dealer rating, drivetrain + engine features, fuel economy, and trim profile. The verdict — Legendary, Epic, Good, Fair, or Meh — comes straight from that math.

The output is a 0–100 deal score with a verdict from Legendary down to Meh.

Is the smart inventory live?+

Yes. Listings come from auto.dev's national feed of dealer and private-seller listings, and both inventory and deal scores refresh every 30 minutes.

Why does the same smart model rank differently across listings?+

Two listings with similar prices can rank very differently if one has a clean history (single owner, no accidents) and the other has multiple owners or accident records. Trim, drivetrain, CPO status, dealer reputation, and mileage relative to age all move the score.
