Full "rotisserie" restoration completed in 2001</p> <p>Currently owned by local Family on consignment.</p> <p>Approximately 1050 Elite Type 14's were manufactured between 1959 and 1963. The cars achieved 6 class wins at the</p> <p>24 Hours of Le Mans in addition to many other successes.</p> <p> </p> <p>Car was built for import to US for Bob Challam, Ecurie Shirlee Corporation (sole US importer based in Manhattan Beach CA) 9/19/1962</p> <p></p> <p>Lotus handwritten records indicate it is engine # 10767 however the actual block is 10769 which is a factory number. It is not uncommon to have errors with the Lotus records from those days according to Mike Strove who is the preeminent Lotus expert (currently resides outside San Francisco).</p> <p></p> <p>Robert Carnell acquired the car in 1965</p> <p></p> <p>Reviewing the records indicated the following work was performed:</p> <p></p> <p>1/89    Engine rebuilt, front and rear suspension, electrical rewired for US </p> <p>3/90 Gas tank replaced</p> <p>8/93 Wheels rebuilt, new tires, rubber moldings replaced</p> <p></p> <p>Full body off restoration started in 1999 and completed in 2003 (Lotus Prepared by Claudias performed the majority of the restoration, www.lotuspbc.com (http://www.lotuspbc.com/))</p> <p>7/99 Interior parts, brake lines replaced, rebuild carbs</p> <p>10/00 Instruments</p> <p>10/01 Body painted</p> <p>1/03 Assemble car after painting</p> <p></p> <p>4/07 Brakes, exhaust and electrical</p> <p>5/07 New windshield and rear glass</p> <p>7/08 Tune carbs</p> <p>12/10 Brake pads</p> <p>9/11 Align doors, tune, relocate fuel pump, safety inspection</p> <p>    (Invoice indicates 62 miles)</p> <p></p> <p>Car was garaged in San Diego county on supports with gas drained</p> <p>12/24 Bob Carnell passed and Susan Carnell Adams (daughter) became the caretaker. </p> <p>1/25 All fluids flushed and replaced, brake lines bled, engine manually turned over and lubricated, battery replaced</p> <p>2/25 Car driven to and shown at Dr George show. The only Lotus Elite at the show.</p> <p>1/26 ~300 miles on the speedometer.
